Hu Ge's comments on social media following Jiang Jinfu's arrest for domestic violence started a chain reaction from celebrities who knew Jiang Jinfu personally and spoke of him online. Some even openly expressed support for the actor and later apologized for their words.
Being the first to speak up, Hu Ge was slammed and accused of choosing sides. He and Jiang Jinfu worked together in the past under the management of Tangren Media.
Hu Ge also came under fire after netizens started heavily scrutinizing his past actions. A clip from years ago resurfaced wherein Hu Ge says that he kicked actress Jin Sha in the back as his way to relieve everyone's stress. The actress later clarified that Hu Ge's words were not very accurate and were probably said for the sake of variety. She also explains that they were filming a scene at the time. He was lying on a stretcher acting the part of an injured man and he lightly tapped her with his foot to signal that she had to walk faster or they may have to redo the scene. She reiterates that he did not kick her (see her post).
On Dec 1st, a lawyer's letter was issued upon the request of Tangren Media on behalf of their artist, Hu Ge. The letter states that Hu Ge wrote a post on weibo to express his regretfulness and heartache, but a portion of netizens have been maliciously spreading bad comments, twisting the truth and making deliberate assumptions to suit their purposes. Their actions have insulted Hu Ge's integrity and infringed on his rights. Hence, they demand that the fabricated comments be deleted or they will be taking legal action.
